He was predeceased by: his parents, Lawrie Thomson and Agnes Thomson (Royce). He is survived by: his wife Saundra; his children, Jeffrey (Mary Voisin), Susan (Kevan Cowan) and Karen (Tim Mercer); and his grandchildren, Meghan (Matthew Rae), Cole, Courtney, Laurie, Natalie and Lindsay.
