He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Francis Hilton Wilkes and Victoria Gooderham; his brothers, John, Peter and Ted; his wife Diana Collins Wilkes; his former wives, Suzanne Frawley Wilkes and Elizabeth McVittie Wilkes; his grandsons, Matt (Kasi) and Tim; his great grandchildren, Jaxon, Ryan, Kaitlin and John Wilkes Jennifer Colleran (Peter); and his grandchildren, Elizabeth, Rhiannon Suzanne Frawley Wilkes, Penny Martin (Stephen), Andrew (Tiffany), Geoff (Lindsay), Brian Douglas (Rachel), Jack, Robin Wendy Hogarth (Murray Johnston), North, Slater, Rogan and Quinn Diana Collins Wilkes. He was also cherished by Children's Services from the Child.
