It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Markian Pylat (Toronto, Ontario), who passed away on February 3, 2025, at the age of 99, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

As Markian departs from this earthly realm, his essence lingers — a whisper on the wind, a ripple on the water — a testament to the enduring power of love to transcend the boundaries of life and death. Though Markian may no longer walk beside us, his spirit lives on in the memories and the legacy Markian leaves behind.

He was predeceased by: his former wife Stephanie Dacko; and his sister Luba Szklar. He is survived by: his wife Slawka Gowlich; his children, Christine (Brian), Roman and Stephen (Lina); and his granddaughters, Julia, Isabelle (Ryan) and Alexie.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to the Canada-Ukraine Foundation, or the St. Joseph Health Centre in Toronto.
