He is survived by: his wife Caryl Newbery-Mitchell; his children, Nadia Simone, Naomi Olivia and Avery John; his siblings, Candice Ferguson, Crystal Mitchell and Mark Mitchell; his stepmother Barbara Mitchell; his sister-in-law Lea Dietrich; his niece Mia Ferguson; his nephews, Hunter Dietrich and Nolan Ferguson; his parents-in-law, Yvonne Newbery and John Newbery; and his stepgrandmother Eslyn Mitchell.

Even in the final months of his life, he ran his annual Daily Bread Foodbank campaign in December, and with the support of his friends, clients and community successfully completed a half marathon and raised thousands of dollars for the charity.
