He is survived by : his wife Dai; his children, Karen (Christopher Cobourn), Joanna (Scott Barker) and Matt Gaasenbeek (Francine); his grandchildren, Adam Cobourn (Jaclyn), Sarah Chapman (Cameron), Jeffrey Cobourn (Kendra), Leah Barker, Douglas Barker, Victoria Gaasenbeek and Madeline Gaasenbeek; his great grandchildren, Anna Cobourn, Julia Cobourn and Katherine Chapman; and his siblings, Len Gaasenbeek (Alma), Henk Gaasenbeek (Donna), Martha Goodier (Douglas), Peter Gaasenbeek (Irene) and Frank Gaasenbeek (Sandra).

“It is with great sadness that Matthew has left us to met his Creator. Matt was a true leader , a great visionary and always displayed a great heart no matter how serious a problem would become. He was definitely my great leader and I enjoyed ever minute with him as he was a true friend to me. My condolences to Dai and Karen who helped him move forward with pride and dignity. Ed Rayment”
