Rene was the youngest son to Abraham Lawand and Adele Lawand; brother to Charles Lawand, and John Lawand all pre-deceased. He joins his 2nd wife Mary Lawand who sadly passed away in 2016.
As a teenager Rene beat polio, he went on to graduate from Concordia University with a Bachelor of Arts, and ran his own sales business for decades. He loved to play bridge and achieved ACBL bridge Gold Life Master and taught bridge with Mary as they travelled the world on the cruise lines. He lived life big, on his own terms, with an embarrassing sense of humor and a penchant for telling it like it is. Once he retired he worked as an extra in films and tv and he enjoyed a good gangster story. He was a real sports fan and enjoyed the Montreal Habs, the Raptors and horse racing.
