He is survived by: his wife Pierrette Ryan; his children, Corey Ryan and Tina Gill (Steve); his grandchildren, Brooke, Blake, Samantha and Arrington; his sisters, Collette Longtin (Henri) and Michelle Rochon (Lamoureux); and his siblings' children, Sophie, Francois, Jean, Benoit and Stephane.

“I am so sorry for your loss. I have known Corey and Tina for more than half my life and know Richard was a good man. I remember when I started working at Citytv in the 90s and had to call police for information, I was so surprised with Richard answered the phone one day. We talked and he was much nicer than most of the officers who were at the desk. haha I guess it paid to have connections. I won't forget him. Dayna Gourley”
