She was predeceased by: her daughter Vinita; and her sister Onilla. She is survived by: her husband Ray Joshua; her child Sunita Reddy; and her sisters, Anita and Rekha. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

“I had the great pleasure to dance with Rina since 1980, as a member of the International Folk Dance Association. Rina usually attended the annual Folk Dance Camp in Waterloo, and generously agreed to perform her dazzling and graceful kathak dancing whenever we asked. I can easily visuallize Rina's huge, expressive eyes as she flashed them in her dance performances. What a talent, and what a beauty! We will forever miss Rina's friendly smile and laughter.”

“I first met Rina back in 1981 when I had just moved to Toronto, and was living at Gerrard and Coxwell; someone told me about her beginners' kathak class around the corner and I took it. Over the years, we were often together in folkdance settings ,.and also had many conversations about her dance research and my ethnomusicology research. I will always think of Rina as dancing, with that beautiful flowing grace, and smiling. She will be very much missed.”
