We bid farewell to Ronald Clive Thorpe of Toronto, Ontario, whose journey of life gracefully concluded on January 6, 2026 at the age of 82. Ronald touched countless lives with warmth and kindness, leaving behind cherished memories that will forever echo in hearts. He was predeceased by: his parents, Ellen Ethyl Smith (Nell) and Carl Thorpe; and his grandparents, Alice and Alfred Smith. He is survived by: his aunt Anne Smith; his pet Rory; his wife Beverley; his sons, Michael (Michelle), Matthew and Melmo; his grandchildren, Nico, Jamie, Edward and Rysa Hanna; his great grandchildren, Andrew, Tia, Everett (Lauren), Jim and Louise Walker; Weston, Desmond, Sawyer, Fen, Kate (Michael), Brad (Lauren), Landon, Ellie, David, Colleen Hanna, Lauren (Harold), Sarah (Connor), Astrid, Aurora and Killian. He is also survived by extended family includes his brothers in-laws and sisters in-laws and their children.
Visitation was held on Friday, January 9th 2026 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A funeral service was held on Saturday, January 10th 2026 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Church of St. Timothy (100 Old Orchard Grove, Toronto, ON M5M2E2). A reception was held on Saturday, January 10th 2026 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Overlea Garneau Alumni Association to fund the Ron Thorpe Science Award, created in Ron's honour for students with financial needs who wish to pursue science studies.
