He was predeceased by: his wife Grace. He is survived by: his daughters, Sharon Lee (Peter), Patti and Janice (Robert Chute); and his grandchildren, Elizabeth, Vanessa, Matthew, Ciara and Connor.
During the pandemic, Roy wrote a book, Growing Up Nisei, about his experiences as a young Japanese Canadian.
