“Born in the same year our paths crossed only late in life though we had traversed many of the same routes including the camino to Santiago de Compostela. From Anglicanism through Toronto's St. Mary Magdalene Parish, to Roman Catholicism and eventually as parishioners of the Ordinariate Parish of St. Thomas More, and both with more than a passing acquaintance with Byzantine Christianity, we had so much in common. Then in our professional lives we had both been elementary school teachers and for a time school librarians. Royden had grazed on the more exalted pastures of the religious life and in administration later in his career but together the most frequent site for our tête-à-têtes was at a Harvey's restaurant over a classic hamburger. I already miss those rendez-vous and look forward to a time we can pick up the conversation again amidst the company of heaven. RECQVIESCAT IN PACE”
