She was predeceased by: her parents, Eugene McAvoy and Myrtle McAvoy; her husband Stanley Smegal; and her siblings, Hanorah, Dorian, Rose, Patrick, Raymond, Kenneth, Paul, Mary Theresa, Eugene and Edmund.

She is survived by: her children, Brian (Deborah), Karen (Rolf), Paul, Kim (Joseph), David (Julie), Teresa (Mark), Mark (Linda) and Todd (Shelley); and her sister Betty Asselin (late Michael).
