He was predeceased by : his parents, Clair Marston and Hanna Begg; and his siblings, Lillian Fraser, Ruth Hodge and Jean Albright.

He is survived by : his wife Ella; his children, Sydney of Mallorytown, Elaine Richards (Bob) of Halifax and Kevin (Jill) of Comox; his grandchildren, Kim, Jenna, Tyler, Elisha, Belinda and Emily; and his great grandchildren, Julie, Katherine, Layne, Kylie, Clair, Kate and Benjamin.

In memory of Ian a donation to the Dementia Society 2327 St. Laurent Boulevard, Unit 500, Ottawa, ON K1G 4J8 would be appreciated.

“I am so sad to hear of Ian's passing. My deepest sympathy to all his family. Ian and Ella were such great friends of my mom's, taking her shopping and visiting with her. They were there for her when her grandson was wounded in Afghanistan sitting with her so that she wouldn't be alone. Ian was always quick to come and help in an emergency, doing small repairs and sharing his woodworking. He was proud of his home on Union Street and very proud of his family! He spoke of them often with Mom.”
