He was predeceased by: his wife Joyce; and his parents, Douglas Hunter and Mary Hunter. He is survived by: his significant other Madeleine Hoxie; his children, Brian (Deborah) of Kitchener, Janet of Meteghan, Susan Guise-Bagley (Leonard) of Barrie and Tim (Ginny) of Vineland; his grandchildren, Meredith, Matthew of Kitchener, Katie of Vineland and Scott; and his great grandchildren, Aubree and Ella of Kitchener.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Joyce Hunter Bursary in Music at Brock University would be appreciated by the family.
