He was predeceased by: his daughter Joanne Patterson; his parents, Bill Patterson and Emily Patterson; his brother Lewie Patterson; and his brothers-in-law, Gary Mighton and Norm McIntosh.

He is survived by: his spouse Chris; his child Lesia (Peter Richter); his grandchildren, Wade Patterson, Emily, Jeff Pries, Laura Doman, Kye Vermeulen, Alex McCracken, Holly Jasvins, Orianna Farr and Braedon MacLachlan; his great grandchildren, Lainey and Luna Pries; and his siblings, Mary Ellen Mighton, Margaret (Mike MacMillan), Janette McIntosh and Kit Patterson (Murrey Baker).
