With profound sadness, we say goodbye to Elmer Schmidt (Walkerton, Ontario), whose vibrant spirit touched the lives of many. He was predeceased by: his wife Vicky; his siblings-in-law, Charlie Neil, Walter Turner (Gwen), Fred Smith, Gail Ferrier and Lynne Thompson; and his parents, Bill Schmidt and Helen Schmidt.
He is survived by: his daughter Jeannie of Port Elgin; his siblings, Cathy Elphick (J. D.) of Pinkerton, Alan Schmidt (Judy) of Cargill, Theresea Eckenswiller (Steve) of Walkerton and Mary-Lou Neil of Pinkerton; and his siblings-in-law, Eleanor Huffman of Chesley, Iris Smith of Mount Forest, Milton Turner (Arlene) of Whitechurch, Jim Thompson of Burgoyne, Hugh Turner (Marion) of Guelph and Leonard Ferrier of Gravenhurst. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, February 4th 2026 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Cameron Funeral Home (1106 Yonge St S, Walkerton, ON N0G2V0). A Mass of Christian burial was held on Thursday, February 5th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Mary Immaculate Church (41 Concession Rd 6, Chepstow, ON N0G1K0).
