He was predeceased by: his parents, Ed Schmidt and Edna Schmidt; his daughters, Ellen, Lynn and Vera; his siblings, Irene Bohnert (Herb), Rita Scott (Wally), John Schmidt (Dolores), Elaine King (Bruce), Eleanor Binkley, Eddie Schmidt and Mary-Lou Cox (Bill); and his brothers-in-law, Leo Monk and Brian Addison.
He is survived by: his wife Winifred Schmidt (Addison); his children, Alison Kuntz (Jeff) of Alma, Glen Schmidt (Margaret) of Chepstow and Gord Schmidt (Elizabeth) of Greenock; his grandchildren, Ryan Kuntz (Jaymee Bester), Brad Kuntz (Shawna Cabeldu), Michelle Kuntz (Taylor Wright), Ben, Will, Luke, Callisto, Colby, Lauren and Ian Schmidt; his sister Martha Monk; and his in-laws, Les Binkley, Hannah Schmidt, Johnny Addison (Ann), Jimmy Addison (Andrea) and Shelagh Addison. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
