She was predeceased by: her husband Pierre Genereux; her parents, John Whalen and Aileen Whalen; and her siblings, Peter and Karol Charlson.

She is survived by: her children, Janet Collins John (Barry), Michael and Christine Howell (late Michael); her grandchildren, Brent (Ashley), Jeffrey (Liana), Jean-Paul, William, Louis, Jackson, Wyatt, Garrett and Meghan; and her siblings, Terry Whalen (Jean), Paul Whalen (Lucille) and Jo-Anne Kruzynski (George). She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
