Elena (Barchiesi) Lewis Obituary
Elena passed away peacefully at Columbia Forest Long Term Care in Waterloo on April 20th, 2025 at the age of 94.
Elena was strong-willed with an outspoken and humorous personality. She did not give up on things or people she cared about.
Born in Jesi, a small town in Italy that she often reminisced about – a piece of her heart remained there. Elena had a zest for life, a love for animals, food, bingo and laughter. She felt joy feeding the squirrels in her backyard or the pigeons on her balcony. Daughter of the late Augusto Barchiesi and late Elisa Manoni. The eldest and last surviving of five sisters: Graziella, Liliana, Pina and Quinta. Elena will be missed and never forgotten by her two children Frank and Lucy Gelmotto who meant the world to her. Grandmother to Hannah Gelmotto. She will be missed by her devoted friend Janice Deutschmann who was by her side until the end. Elena will finally be reunited with her mother, father and four sisters.
A private family memorial will be held on Friday, April 25th, 2025.
