We announce the death of Lexine Sharay Wapoose of Webequie, Ontario, who passed away on September 12, 2026, at the age of 17. Lexine will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. She was predeceased by: her grandfather Andrew Wabasse; her uncle Ken Jacob (Aaron Jacob); and her aunts, Joanne Kakapetum (Israel Kakapetum) and Francine Jacob. She is survived by: her parents, Phyllisia Jacob and Dexter Wapoose; her siblings, Jamal Wapoose, Lennox Wapoose, Ava Jacob and Alyxa Wapoose; her boyfriend Thomas Jacob; her grandparents, Elijah Jacob, Elsie Jacob and Cathleen Wabasse; her great-grandparents, Ina Neshinapaise and Bessie Wabasse Sr.; her aunts and uncles, Vincent Jacob (Emily Jacob Jr.), Randell Wapoose, Dixon Wapoose, Lynn Jacob, Lisa Crowe (Bernie Crowe), Doris Mekanak (late Mike Mekenak), Gladys Crowe (Elton Crowe), Donna Jacob, Christine Bighead (Ricky Bighead) and Sarlene Shewaybick (Troy Shewaybick); and her nieces, Kamari Wapoose-Begg and Leilani Wapoose-Begg. She is also survived by numerous cousins, relatives, and friends.
A wake was held on Saturday, September 19th 2026 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Westfort Chapel (420 Gore St W, Thunder Bay, ON P7E6J2). Viewing was held on Saturday, September 19th 2026 at 2:00 PM at the same location. A funeral service was held on Monday, September 21st 2026 at 1:00 PM at the Church of the Messiah Anglican Church. A burial was held on Monday, September 21st 2026 at the Webequie Cemetery.
