He was predeceased by: his parents, Holt Read (Fredrick) and Lottie Read (Charlotte); his sister Lynn Ruhe; and his nephew Kenneth Frazer. He is survived by: his wife Michelle; his children, Jason (Stacy), Elisha (Colin) and Sarah (Bruno); his grandchildren, Desmond, Olivia and Luca; his siblings, Barbara, Bob (Susan) and Debbie (Joe); and his brother-in-law Fred.

There will not be a funeral held because Jeff has decided to donate his body to science at McMaster University.
