He was predeceased by: his parents, John Mataya and Annie Mataya; his brother George; his sister-in-law Jeanette Mataya; his sister Yvonne Kriz; and his sister-in-law Mary Grahovac.
He is survived by: his wife Katie; his children, Lori (Larry) and John (Joanna); his grandchildren, Kyle (Dana), Katherine (Andrew), Jonathan (Paris) and Adam (Haley); his great grandchildren, Grayson and Isla; and his siblings-in-law, Fina and Louis Pelino. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
