Lionel left this world on June 22, 2024 at the age of 81, leaving a void in the lives of so many people. He was predeceased by: his mother Irene Marttila; his stepfather Allan; his parents-in-law, Joseph and Maria Rezner; and his siblings, Larry Marttila and Rosemary Dilts.

He is survived by: his wife Mary Ann; his children, Larry and Stacey; his siblings-in-law, Monica Walz (Gerhard), Irene Walz (Josef) and Joe Rezner; and his siblings, Bob Marttila and Irene Marttila. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews.
