He was predeceased by: his parents, Giuseppe Valeriote and Anna Valeriote. He is survived by: his wife Ester; his children, Joseph (AnnaMarie) and Julie; his grandchildren, Mia and Anthony; his siblings, Domenic (Shirley), Jim (late Barb), Guy (Darlene), Adriana (Frank Vetere), Sylvana (Guy Gibson) and Armando (Sandy); his sisters-in-law, Tonia (Mike Orlando) and Lisa Caruso; his sister Rita Welsh; his in-laws, Aldo and Maria Ventresca; and his sister-in-law Eddi Gorman. He is also survived by nephews, and 31 great-nieces, and great-nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Niagara Health Kidney Dialysis Care or Hotel Dieu Shaver Rehabilitation and Healing Center, in Sam's honor.
