He was predeceased by: his parents, John Root and Edith Root; and his brothers, Frank (Pearl), Leonard (Jean) and Don.
He is survived by: his wife Minnie Root (McIntyre); his daughters, Betty Cole (Dan) of Corbyville and Brenda Root (Mike) of Rossmore; his grandchildren, Grant Cole, Tristan Carroll and Brayden Carroll; and his sister Fern Root. He is also survived by many other family members including nieces and nephews, along with friends.
