He is survived by: his children, Graeme (Kristen) of Grand Cayman and Ian; his grandchildren, Tyler and Marley; his siblings, Ian Thomson of Nova Scotia and Betty Laing of Scotland; and his siblings' children, Christine Agnes Kathleen Thomson of Nova Scotia, Morna Allison Auld (John) of Scotland and Donald Gordon Laing of Scotland.

I loved the way he would just appear on my front porch, settle into an easy chair in my den/computer room and proceed to interrogate me on whatever matter was currently bothering him.
