He was predeceased by: his parents, James Crichton and Annie Crichton (Whyte); and his siblings, Alec (Doris), Margaret (Reg), Mary (Don), Jean (Cliff), Ruth (Bob) and Anna (Bill).

He is survived by: his children, David (Violet) of Scarborough, Kim Stainsby (Mark) of Brooklin and James (Dasza) of Nestleton; his grandchildren, David (Samantha), Nicholas (Paige), Julia, Natasha (Alex) and Monique; his sister Betty Julian (late Nelson); and his sister-in-law Ivy (late Bill). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
