George Dundas Obituary

With deep sadness, we announce the peaceful passing of George Elliot Dundas at Seven Oaks Long Term Care in Scarborough, Ontario.

George was 97 years old. He was born on October 19, 1928, in Northern Ireland, where he spent his early years growing up on the family farm and working at a local hardware store.

In May 1950, George made the courageous decision to begin a new life in Canada. After arriving in Quebec, he traveled by train to Toronto, where he applied as a landed immigrant. With little more than determination, and after being handed a sandwich upon arrival, George set out to build a future for himself.

It was in Canada that George met Irene Mabel Adams, also a landed immigrant from Northern Ireland, who later became his beloved wife, Irene Dundas. They were married on August 18, 1956, and shared many devoted years together until Irene's passing on February 12, 2020.

George spent most of his working life in the clothing business, where he was known for his strong work ethic and quiet dedication.

George was one of nine children and is predeceased by his brother Jack and sisters Annie, Cherrie, Winnie, Kathleen, and Ethel. He is survived by his son, Kevin Dundas, and his sisters Mabel and Edith.

George will be remembered for his resilience, humble beginnings, and the life he built through courage, perseverance, and love for his family.

Visitation will be held at Barnes Memorial Funeral Home; on Wednesday May 27th from 11:00 - 12:00. A Celebration of Life service will follow in the Barnes Chapel at 12:00 noon. Guests will be welcomed to join them after the service for a time of refreshment.
