James Douglas Batty Obituary
Born on the Batty home farm, Jim spent 87 years in the Brooklin community where he proudly balanced life as both a dedicated farmer and a long-time employee of General Motors, all while raising his family of six children — Keith (Annelies), Ron (Lucia) (Kathy), Rick (Cindy), Sherril (Ron), Karl (Lori) and Kim (Dan).
After many hardworking years, he spent the last nine years enjoying retirement in Lindsay, where he continued to live life with gratitude and joy.
He was known for his warm smile and those unforgettable big bear hugs. Jim loved dancing, exploring nature, walking the bush, and working with wood. He had a passion for photography and was a true hobbyist — an eclectic collector of all sorts of treasures. He found joy in simple pleasures, in travel, and in sharing a good laugh — whether telling or hearing a joke.
He leaves behind a beautiful legacy of love through his 21 grandchildren and 40 great-grandchildren, each of whom brought a sparkle to his eyes.
Graveside Service will take place at Groveside Cemetery Brooklin on Saturday afternoon at 3:30. A reception will follow at Barnes Memorial Saturday afternoon at 4:30.
