Lloyd Wilson Obituary
It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Lloyd Wilson.
Lloyd was a loving husband, devoted father, proud grandfather, loyal friend, and celebrated educator, passed away at Lakeridge Health Oshawa on Monday, October 27th, 2025. He was just shy of his 83rd birthday.
Born in Peterborough, Ontario, Lloyd was the only son of Dave and Ruth. Lloyd's memory will forever be cherished by his family; his loving wife, Glenda, and his daughters Valerie (Robert) and Kim (Ian), and his grandchildren Matthew, Lauren, Paige, Emily and Ireland. He will be missed by his sister in law, Suzanne and his niece Darcie (Dean). He will be greatly missed by his lifelong friends, cousins and extended family.
Lloyd grew up in Yelverton, Ontario and worked on the family farm. He attended a one room school house until Grade 7. He then attended Cartwright High school where he met his closest friends and his future wife, Glenda. In 1961, Lloyd's passion for learning, education and love of children, led him to attend Peterborough Teacher's College and went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts as well as a Masters of Education at the University of Toronto.
Lloyd enjoyed a 35 year career with the Scarborough Board of Education (6 years as a teacher, 7 years as a Vice Principal, and 22 years as a Principal) and he retired in 1997. His educational legacy is demonstrated by his extraordinary contributions including Co-chair of Millionaire's Night (an event to send underprivileged children to camp), school extracurricular activities, S.E.S.P.A President, recipient of the prestigious Anson Taylor Award, D.D.S, Rookie of the Year, Eagles, Principal Conferences antics, and orchestrating and mentoring an environment of learning while having fun for both staff and students alike. Lloyd loved to laugh and have fun!
Lloyd was a strong and caring man. He was loved and admired by all who knew him for his hugs, loyalty, care and compassion for others and his sense of humour. His greatest joys in life were spending time with his family and creating memories, travelling, music (from playing the piano at his mother's musical recitals to an active member of the band Country Friends). Lloyd loved watching and supporting the grandkids doing what they love, attending many luncheons with retired friends, playing Euchre with his best friends, playing backgammon with anyone who was not afraid to lose, attending Brooklin United Church, and drives in the country with his loving wife.
As Lloyd reunites with family and friends that have passed, we would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the PSW's, Nurses and Doctors and everyone else who provided him care and dignity over the past many years as he bravely battled many medical challenges.
In celebrating the life of Lloyd Wilson, his family finds comfort knowing that his legacy will live on through his educational impact and in the hearts and minds of all of those he touched. Lloyd may be gone, but he will live forever in our memories.
At Lloyd's request, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Brooklin United Church or a charity of your choice.
