Monika Kampen Obituary

Passed away peacefully at Lakeridge Health Ajax on Sunday, June 7th.

Monika is predeceased by her husband of 45+ years, Walter Kampen, and her parents Margareta and Ernst Hagge. She is survived by her children, Michael Kampen (Debbie Carroll) of Vancouver Island, BC, and Maureen Foulds (Doug Foulds) and granddaughter Suzanne Foulds. She will be remembered by her many friends including her German circle of friends, her cottage buddies, those she worked with, and especially her neighbor of 50 years, Joanne Williams.

Monika was born in Germany and came to Canada in the early 1960's with her husband Walter. She was a very active school volunteer at her children's schools, which turned into a career as a teacher's assistant, primarily at Glen Street Public School. She loved exploring Canada with her family, camping in the early years and then RV'ing with Walter across Canada multiple times during retirement. She was happiest out in nature, whether it was camping or at the cottage. She introduced her granddaughter Suzy to this love of camping, spending many summer days together with Suzy and Walter at their favorite provincial parks. In recent years, her friends at the cottage kept her active.

In keeping with Monika's wishes, there will be no funeral or memorial service held. Those wishing to honour her memory may make a donation to a charity of their choice in her name.
