Susan Hathaway Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Susan Margaret Hathaway, beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt and dedicated educator. Susan is survived by her devoted husband, Aron; beloved children, Owen and Rebecca; mother, Wanda; and brother, Andrew; and much loved by extended Muncaster, Hathaway, Buchanan and Davis families.
Sue taught Drama and English at Sinclair Secondary School, inspiring countless students through her passion for the arts and literature. Whether it was guiding her students through the powerful lessons of To Kill a Mockingbird in the classroom or helping to direct and produce award-winning plays through the school's theatre program, Susan was a gifted educator and a teacher who fostered imagination and discovery.
In her personal life, Sue was happiest at the cottage. Surrounded by family and friends, her beloved Murphy (or Tucker) close by, and a cider in hand, she loved nothing more than relaxing on the deck with a good book and some tunes playing. Sue was endlessly proud of Owen and Becca - watching them grow into remarkable young adults, Owen thriving at University and playing many sports and Becca shining on the volleyball court and in school, they brought her so much joy.
A visitation will be held at Barnes Funeral Home on Friday, October 24 from 3:00pm to 5:00pm and 6:00pm to 8:00pm. A funeral service will be held at Brooklin United Church on Monday, October 27 at 1:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Susan Hathaway Drama Award - Sinclair Secondary School using the URL: https://bit.ly or also to the Lakeridge Health Cancer Center via link below.
Sue's warmth, generosity, and empathy will be deeply missed by family, friends, colleagues, and students alike.
