Wayne Merrill Ross Obituary
It is with deep sadness that the family of Wayne Merrill Ross announce his passing on Friday, April 25th, 2025, at Hospice Quinte, at the age of 81.
Wayne will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by his wife of 63 years, Donna Marlene (nee Fraser); his children Annette Heenan (Patrick) and Brian Ross (Susan); his grandchildren Stephanie (Bryce), Lindsay (Aaron), Eric (Tiffany), Alec (Jessica), Joshua (Erica), Rory (Stephanie), and Reece (Rachel); his great-grandchildren Quintyn, Zachary, Tyler, Ciara, Austin, and Archer; his brother Gary (Shirley) and his sister Nancy Murray (Bill). He will also be forever in the hearts of Shirley and Mal.
Predeceased by his parents, Merrill and Rilda Ross (nee Holman), Wayne grew up on the family farm in Brooklin, where he developed the strong work ethic that would guide him throughout his life. As young man he worked a variety of jobs to support his family, ultimately retiring after 39 years of dedicated service at General Motors.
Wayne found great joy in spending time with his family, whether gathered around the dinner table or cheering on his family at sporting events. He was known for his love of desserts ("a little bit of everything please!"), his passion for gardening, his skill in woodworking and pride in his S10 Chevy truck.
A private service for immediate family will be held on May 10, 2025.
Donations in lieu of flowers to the Canadian Cancer Society or Quinte Hospice would be appreciated.
