With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Gerard Backes (Williamsburg, Ontario), who passed away on July 6, 2019 at the age of 81. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his siblings, Edna Marcil, Elise Backes, Leonard and Joseph. He is survived by: his wife Claire Backes; his children, Louise Vachon of Morrisburg, Lynn Thurler (Nick) of South Mountain and Debbie Rogers (Derek) of Hallville; his siblings, Rose Seguin of Ottawa, Arthur Backes (Yvette) of Vanier, Leo Backes (Marguerite) of South Mountain and Norman Backes of Chesterville; his grandchildren, Eric (Laura), Robert (Brittany), Danielle (Andrew), Lise, Chantal (Dwyer), Michel (Kaitlyn), Travis and Caitlin; and his great grandchildren, Rylee, Lilah, Kylie, Carson, Avery, William, Keegan, Raelynn and Wyatt. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Donations to the Alzheimer's Society or the Diabetes Society would be gratefully acknowledged by the family.
