She was loved and cherished by many people including: her husband Matthew Janisse; her parents, Gail and Gerard; her parents-in-law, Laurette and Paul Janisse; her siblings, Ron, Malinda, John and Julie; her siblings-in-law, Jason Janisse, Derek Janisse, Jocelyn, Crystal Janisse and Sydney Meloche; and her siblings' children, Michael, Erin, Robert, Samuel, Sebastien, Annabelle and Lillian. She was also cherished by her family, friends.

Visitation was held on Thursday, February 5th 2026 from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM, on Friday, February 6th 2026 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM and from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Families First (3260 Dougall Ave, WINDSOR, ON N9E 1S6). A Mass of Christian burial was held on Saturday, February 7th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Corpus Christi Church (1400 Cabana Rd W, Windsor, ON N9G1C4).

Denise's extraordinary contributions to athletics and her community were formally recognized when she was appointed to the Order of Canada in 2017, one of the country's highest civilian honours, celebrating her leadership and tireless advocacy for youth sport.
