She was loved and cherished by many people including: her husband Matthew Janisse; her parents, Gail and Gerard; her parents-in-law, Laurette and Paul Janisse; her siblings, Ron, Malinda, John and Julie; her siblings-in-law, Jason Janisse, Derek Janisse, Jocelyn, Crystal Janisse and Sydney Meloche; and her nieces and nephews, Michael, Erin, Robert, Samuel, Sebastien, Annabelle and Lillian. She was also cherished by her family, friends.
Denise's extraordinary contributions to athletics and her community were formally recognized when she was appointed to the Order of Canada in 2017, one of the country's highest civilian honours, celebrating her leadership and tireless advocacy for youth sport.
