He was predeceased by : his parents, William Fregin and Anna Fregin; his former life partner Irene; and his wife Mavis. He is survived by : his children, Laura (Michael), Douglas (Kelly) and Gordon (Michelle); his grandchildren, Sean (Sara), Ryan (Tara), Katie (Dave), Nicole and Joey; his great grandchildren, Elijah, Nolan, Liam, Crosby, Avery and Myles; his stepchildren, Derek, Diane, Donna and Dale; his siblings, Ken (Faye), Laura Lou (Russ) and Gloryann (Dave); his siblings-in-law, Jean Couloufis, Peggy McMillan and Gerald Herdman; and his cousin Joyce Brunke. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Hospice of Windsor Essex County in Ed's memory.

Alfred Rocheleau wrote a sympathy message

“Ed and Mavis Fregin were very close friends. We met in Florida and continued the relationship in Windsor. Ed was a very kind and easy to get along individual both socially and on the golf course. That relationship continued through many years and until Mavis' illness and death. We visited Ed the last time at the assisted living location in which he was located. He and Mavis left us with beautiful memories. Fred & Dorothy Rocheleau.”
