He was predeceased by: his parents, John Murray and Edith Murray; his brother Alan Murray (late Stella); his foster parents, Charles Johnston and Gertrude Johnston; and his brother Jack Johnston (Joyce).

He is survived by: his wife June; his daughters, Susan Murray and Dawn Shepard (Allen); his grandchildren, Tamara Murray, Ron Peters (Sylvia) and John "Jonathan" Shepard; his great grandchild Brittany Downes-Peters; his sister Aileen Marshall (Dennis); his sister-in-law Bonita Flowers; and his friends, Bill Larmond and TJ. He is also survived by his nieces, nephews.
