She was predeceased by : her parents, James Aitchison and Celia Aitchison (Wilson); and her brother Kenneth Aitchison. She is survived by : her children, Jeremy, Andrea Brown of Sault Ste, Marie, Jennifer, Simon Atton of Wingham, Jeffrey and Danielle Norgate of Wingham; her grandchildren, Ashton, Brett, Bella, Emmitt, Nathan and Winston; her siblings, Jack, Annabelle Aitchison of Strathroy, Doug and Nancy Aitchison of Lucknow; and her friend Cheryl Souch. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, anyone wishing to attend the visitation must RSVP via our website.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Huron Residential Hospice or St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy.

“Verna was above all a force of nature. She was a very important member of my family for years - she was my friend. My dear friend. I admired her attitude, straight forward style and her generosity. We have stayed in each other's homes (I live in Vancouver) where we always ended up curled up on the couch chatting for hours. She was candid and wise. I always came away enriched.
