He was predeceased by: his former wife Helen Sumsion (Kreager); his granddaughter Kristen Langner; his daughter-in-law Bonnie Sumsion (Stewart); and his parents, Ernest Sumsion and May Sumsion.

He is survived by: his wife Mary Sumsion (McFarland); his children, Debra Sutherland (Garth), Diane Langner (Rob), Doug Sumsion (Cindy) and Denise Wolf (Rod); his grandchildren, Mike (Priscilla), Chad (Macy), Brock (Melissa), Abigail (Ayden), Valerie (Kyle), Leanne (Ian) and Dan; his great grandchildren, Colt and Kaladin; his stepchildren, Marnie McFarland, Julie Balluck (Terry), Paul McFarland (Shelli) and Lauree McFarland (Peter); and his grandchildren, Quentin, Wes, Brendan, Hazel, Keegan, Zac and Ethan.
