He was predeceased by: his parents, Joe Hoekstra and Renske Hoekstra Bakker; his sister Mitzi Idema; his brother-in-law Bill Idema; his brother Ed Hoekstra; his sister-in-law Gwen Hoekstra; his brother Jim Hoekstra; his sister-in-law Sharon Hoekstra; his brother Jake Hoekstra; his parents-in-law, Gerrit Vanspronsen and Maria Vanspronsen; his siblings-in-law, Jacoba Keizer, Mary Graaskamp, Gary Graaskamp and Abe Vanspronsen; and his siblings' children, Diana Graaskamp and Mathew VanBlyderveen.
He is survived by: his wife Gerda; his brothers, Abe Hoekstra (Linda) and Joe Hoekstra (Diane); and his siblings-in-law, Edith Butts (Barry), Hendrika Hoekstra and John Keizer. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
