He was predeceased by : his wife Evelyn Smith. He is survived by : his children, Stuart Smith of Woodstock, John Smith Columbia (Vicky) and Tara Smith of Caledonia; his grandchildren, Todd Barta (Samantha) and Audrey Barta (Malcolm MacDonald); his great grandchildren, Drew and Tommy John Barta; his siblings, Vincent MacMackin, Edward MacMackin and Una McCarron (Fergus); and his sister-in-law Meta Purcell (late Sean) of England. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews.
