He was predeceased by: his wife Carol Van Gillis; his parents, Bennett Gillis and Alma Gillis (MacPherson); and his sisters, Bonnie Jean Roloson and Janet Gillis.
He is survived by: his siblings, Wayne Gillis (Ena), Meryl Cummings (Robert) and Arlene Buell (Wade); and his brothers-in-law, Aaron Roloson and Barry Fitzpatrick. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
