He was predeceased by: his parents, John Aitken and Annie Aitken (Parker); his wife Margaret "Markie" Aitken (Hardy); his grandchildren, Kyle MacKenzie and Angel Aitken; and his siblings, Helen Wight (Archie), Parker (Peggy), Jimmy (Margaret), Charlie (Bert), Fred (Marj), Mary Notting (Tom) and Freda Aitken.
He is survived by: his children, Marlene MacKenzie (Steve Knudson), Ian (Heather), Alan (Shelley Cole) and David Aitken (Julia); his grandchildren, Jason (Tiffany), Andrew (Abby), Lucas MacKenzie (Kyla), Hannah, Ella, Tyler, Zackary and Hunter Aitken; and his great grandchildren, Erileigh Tremere, Pascal, Laurence "Lolo", Cecilia, Cameron and Brooke MacKenzie. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
