He was predeceased by : his parents, Allan Joseph and Jessie MacKinnon (Walker). He is survived by : his wife Helen May MacKinnon; his children, Jessie MacKinnon and Angus Edward MacKinnon (late Roxanne); his grandchildren, Breanna, Will, Logan and Alexis; and his siblings, Theresa White (late Tom), Gerard MacKinnon (Rose) and Wayne MacKinnon (Nancy). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
