He was loved and cherished by many people including: his wife Dorothea "Dee" MacNeill (Noonan); his sons, Gardiner Alex (Andrea) and Jason (Carrie); his grandchildren, Jessica Gallant (Andrew Gorsky), Jacob and Ali MacNeill; his sisters, Nancy Ramsay (Robert) and Debra Wilson (John); and his cousin Helen Stewart. He was also cherished by numerous nieces and nephews and by a large extended family.
