He was predeceased by : his parents, Fred Egan and Dolly Egan (Gaudet); his siblings, Lynda Barkhouse and Paul Egan; his brothers-in-law, Dr. Rollie Langille and Adrian Barkhouse; and his father-in-law Leo.

He is survived by : his wife Estelle (Coady); his children, Paul (Carol), Sherri Hogan (Dan) and Michael (Penny); his sisters, Janet Shore (Doug) and Judy Langille; and his nieces and nephews, Shannon, Lori, Nathan Barkhouse, Heather and Derek Harvie.

Given Dad's journey with dementia, and his love of animal's, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer Society of PEI, or to the PEI Humane Society.

“To the Eagan family: So sorry to hear of the passing of your husband and father Gilbert; may he Rest In Peace! Please accept my sincere condolences. May Gilbert always be in your hearts and the many memories and good times sustain you moving forward. I lived on Green Street and delivered the Guardian/Patriot newspapers on McGill Avenue to many families including the Eagan family. I knew Gilbert, Paul and Lynda who are now together in Heaven. Al MacInnis”
