With profound sadness, we say goodbye to Lloyd Gates of Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, whose vibrant spirit touched the lives of many. He was predeceased by: his parents, Frederick Adelard and Edith Winnifred Gates; his brothers, Frederick Robert Leigh (Bob) and Harold Franklin Gates; his grandson Donald Peters; and his siblings' children, Hal Gates and Susan Thompson.
He is survived by: his wife Mary; his sister Margaret "Margie" Thompson; his children, Paula Gates, Elizabeth "Beth" Peters (Floyd) and David Gates; his stepchildren, Shawn Robinson (Lesa), Chris Robinson (Eliza) and Paul Robinson (Beth); his grandchildren, Anjela Garnier, Sarah Garnier, Michael Peters, Nicole Peters and Rebecca "Becky" Gates; his stepgrandchildren, Liam Robinson, Nora Robinson, Sarah Robinson, Laura Robinson, John Robinson and Susan Robinson; and his great grandchildren, Hope Mosher, Elizabeth "Lizzie" Peters and Lily Costain.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 17th 2025 from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM at the Belvedere Funeral Home (175 Belvedere Ave, Charlottetown, PE C1A2Y9). A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December 17th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Belvedere Funeral Home Chapel (175 Belvedere Ave, Charlottetown, PE C1A2Y9).
Lloyd personally requested no flowers but rather for people to make donations in his memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Royal Canadian Legion.
