He was predeceased by: his wife Patricia Smitherman; his parents, Michael Smitherman and Theresa Smitherman; and his sister Irene "Girlie" Stacey. He is survived by: his children, Kristina Chandler (late Jackie) and Michael G. Smitherman; his grandsons, Matthew Chandler and Jonathan Chandler (Samantha); his great grandchildren, Lennon and Ruby Chandler; his sister Rita Firman; and his sister-in-law Gunnhilde Stalley.
