He was predeceased by : his parents, Angus Stewart and Francis Stewart (Johnson); his son Bruce Stewart; and his siblings, Byron, Gordon, Earl, Angus, Alden and Geraldine.

He is survived by : his wife Lillian Stewart (Hearn); his children, Rob Stewart (Cora), Karen McCaffrey and Duane Stewart (Lisa); his sister Verna Pigeon (Donnie); his grandchildren, Megan Baines, Robin Stewart, Kirsten McCaffrey and James McCaffrey; and his great grandchild Eve Baines. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
