He was predeceased by: his parents, Cuyler Matheson and Irene Matheson (Newson); his wife Doreen Elizabeth Matheson (Howatt); his sister Catherine McNutt; and his brother-in-law Harold Nicholson (Martha MacDonald).
He is survived by: his children, Suzanne Matheson (Alex McKay) and Scott Matheson (Laurie); his grandchildren, Elspeth Matheson McKay, Callum Matheson McKay, Julia Matheson, Caitlin Matheson, Cuyler Matheson and Olivia Matheson (Angus Holzbeerger); his sisters, Carol Weeks (Robert) and Dorothy Nicholson; and his siblings-in-law, Paul McNutt, Heather MacPhee MacDonald, Jessie MacPhail and Martha MacDonald. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
